Question
When I compare the number of encounters with the specific Px or Dx code I've used to define the objective of my campaign, my system doesn't match what's included in my campaign reporting - why does this happen?
Answer
Every encounter is associated with multi[ple Px and Dx codes - and those codes are ranked to identify themost relevant codes for the encounter. When Px/Dx code(s) are used in Objective Setting for campaign reporting, the platform looks for the specific codes in the primary rank ONLY of the downstream visits.
For example: if you want to track immunizations through a Px code, the campaign dashboard only identifies visits where the selected immunization code is the primary procedure code on the encounter. If the immunization code appears on rank 2 of a visit, that visit is not selected as objective.
Not all clients provide complete rank data in the files they send. In fact, we see many inconsistencies in rank data such as multiple primary ranks, ranks of 0 or null, etc. To solve for these issues, the campaign dashboard uses ad-hoc logic to select a single primary px & dx code for each visit.
Procedure Code logic:
- For each encounter, the platform picks the code that has the lowest numeric rank (0 included); if a further tie break is needed:
- Pick the code that has the highest charge; if a further tie break is needed:
- Pick the first code in alphabetical order
Here is the logic for Diagnosis Code:
- For each encounter, the code that has the lowest numeric rank (0 included); if a further tie break is needed:
- Pick the code that was most recently updated by the client; if a further tie break is needed:
- Pick the first code in alphabetical order
